"The Great World Wide Star Count is an engaging project for teaching about the impact of artificial lighting on local environments and in raising awareness about the ongoing loss of people’s ability to study or simply enjoy the night sky in many parts of the world." The Great World Wide Star Count is designed to raise awareness about light pollution as well as encourage learning in astronomy. People all over the world are going outside to count star because it bring family together and its imporant and interesting to many people. We would observe cygnus and the Swan, which includes the Northern Cross asterism.

In this article it says that the Mayan calendar it says that it ended in 2012 which causes people to think this was the end of our world. This article says that it not sure. People have always told me the world is going to end in 2012, i got really scared so im interesting in seeing if this is true. In this article reassures say that the 2012 predictions are a media host, that 2012 is a business. It describes how Mayans considered the "end of a cycle" to be a huge celebratio like a new year. They say that the only prediction astronomically is that the sun will align with the milky way for the first time in 26,000 years, but the mayans would have no way of knowing this meaning they would be in no position to make a prediction.

I got this website from the cnn website I went to Google to get it.
This article talks about how we are sending rockets to hit the moon. The LCROSS will take pictures to see if the plume of the dust that comes from the impact of us hitting the moon contains any water.
I think that this is really interesting becasue no one has ever done anything like this so its going to be cool to see what happens. I think the sun is very important. Everyone always studys the moon its time for the sun.
Balancing an Egg on Equinox
by: David Embrys
Chinese believe, that you can stand a raw egg on end during the equinox. This happens from the notion that due to the sun's position between the poles of the earth on the first day of spring or fall, special gravity forces apply.
This isnt true beacause while it's true that on both equinoxes the earth's axis is perpendicular to the sun so day and night are are they same length. Theres no evidence that theres gravity or alignment changes during an equinox that would affect us on earth. Also, the hoax states that only eggs can stand on its edd.
Mercury

This website is a blog I found through the google search engine. This article informs you about the launch of the Messenger which is trying to find information about Mercury. It says what we know about Mercury and what we would like to know.
Scientists care about studying Mercury because it holds a similar interior to Earth and Mars (Mars is the most similar to Earth out of the planets) even if the core of Mercury is much larger than ours. It especially holds a similar appearance to our moon, along with similar qualities, providing information that our moon and Mercury might have evolved the same way. Its very important to know how planets formed and how similar they are to ours. Scientists are hoping to find out exactly how similar the Mercury is to our familiar planets with the recent launch of the MESSENGER which will take pictures of mercury
I think that the US should look more into space launches. The government is more concerned as to global warming on the earth, when we should consider studying the effects other planets could have on us as well. For instance, it might make a greater impact to know that if we keep using hairspray a black whole would such up the earth or something like that. We are just one small planet in a whole universe! Theres so much we need to know, and theres plenty we already know on earth.
